I am wondering if the USMC still uses the M60? I know the Army still does.

Thanks

Nope, and I have never seen the Army use it either so I'm gonna have to say you're wrong. We have the M240 series of Machine Guns. They do just fine.

Well, judging by videos online, which really isnt much.I also talked to some National Guardsmen who said there unit was getting some M60's soon. Here is a video that was posted on here a few days ago Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that soldier firing an M60? Also, if you do get support in an infantry unit, how is it decided if you get an M249 or M240?

Thanks

Oh that's easy, you hand the armorer your weapon(s) card, and you get your T/O issued weapon.

weapons card? I know that during ITB, you put what you want on your dream sheet. If you do get support gunner, they decide which weapon you get? Any more info on this weapons card?

Thanks

Typically, the SAW is employed in rifle platoons and the 31's in weapons platoon handle the 240's. There will be occasions when a MG squad is attached to your platoon, however, but if you are an 11, you most likely won't be carrying it.

And the weapons card is just what you use to draw whatever weapon was issued to you from the armory.

Theres no such MOS as a support gunner, this isn't Call of Duty 4.

That's what I was told, Hey I was a Air Winger don't know what each weapon can or will do. The only thing I knew how to shoot was a M16A1. Maybe it was a 30 cal, but I would swear he said it was a 60......the head was flat as a pan cake...

The only "cal" is .50 which is an M2. It's either M60 (7.62MM), M240G (7.62MM) or M249 (5.56MM). 60 Mike Mike ha ha ha. You're killing me!

Notice how a lot of folks want to carry automatic weapons they think are "exotic"? I always thought they were too heavy and too depedent on others to carry additional ammo which is part of the reason I was glad to be an 11. God bless the 31's for shouldering that load because they're worth their weight in gold once smack hits the fan.
