So I've been doing some reading about the reserves and I have some questions... I get the whole one weekend a month 2 weeks out of the year thing and that you can be deployed just like anyone else...
My questions-
If you want can you switch to active duty after some time (after I finish college)?

If you are deployed does your pay get upped to the amount of an active duty Marine with the same rank and time?

Does being in the reserves only entitle you to a handful of jobs?

Is your drilling station (or base?) assigned to you or is it by geographical location?

Last Q or now - I may be moving in the next 8 months to Colorado will I be allowed to make the move and where can i find info about bases close by?

Thank you very much!

The USMCR has a lot of MOSs (i.e. "jobs") that AD has. It all depends on where you drill.

You can choose your drill center depending on what MOSs they have to offer and what you qualify for.

Yes it's true.

The link works well on my end, it just doesn't have banners.

Google Marine Reserve Units.

I'm going to try and answer my own question here. Would this be what I'm looking for?
http://www.marforres.usmc.mil/Units/CO.asp

Lastly I will probably be enlisting as 0311 and working my way up.

Would this MOS help or hurt with my availability on drilling stations?

As a reserve member is it more difficult to move ranks? - I understand that school will help with this.

Once again i greatly appreciate all your help and info as i work this process out in my head...

That depends on if the reserve unit has any 0311 openings or even rates them (meaning it's a part of their unit).

When you originally join a reserve unit it has to be for a job available in that unit. If you move and that job is not available in a reserve unit in the area you will have to retrain into an available job designated by the unit.

Is there any way to find out what jobs are available at a specific drilling station? Also then when you sign up do you sign up to that drilling station?

The site above give phone numbers would I benefit from calling and what person am i looking to speak with?

Recruiters can tell you what MOS's are open in your area at local reserve stations.

The one MOS that allows you to transfer anywhere, and is in every reserve unit is... 0100. Wink
