Hey everyone. I'm diciding if I want to join the uscg or the Marines. I'm not sure yet, but I wanted to know a womens point of view how much respect is given to women in the Marines. Also, I want to know if Women can go for Marine Recon? thanks!

I don't believe Numbers is aware of what a Purple Heart, or CAR is.

I know what a Purple Heart is, my cousin got one from Iraq. She got blown up in a hum V, luckely no one got killed, they had to recover in the baghdad hospital for about a week. They could have come home, but they decided to stay. And that happened right when she started her 15 month tour. I don't know what a CAR is though. I'm going to speak with a marine recruiter Tuesday, to discuss different job opportunities and what I qualify for in the Marines. I am really excited either way. USCG or Marines? People probably don't compare the coast guard and marines together much huh?

And I know girls go to war. I know many who have lots lives, and almost lost theres. How come so many people have hate on the Marines? Many people i'v talked to always hate on you guys. I have a lot of respect for every branch of the military. The way I see it, it don't matter air force, marines, navy, army, cg. If your at war, you do your job, doesn't matter your all a target. Everyone is in the same boat. Anyways, thanks for the advice and comments. I want to make sure I make the right decision for me. You can't quit once your in!

I have alot of respect for the Coasties, I served with them on the Cuban boatlift, but they did stay at a 4 star hotel with a pool in Key West. All Branches have a purpose and a mission, Marines have a slice of the war, no how others want to cut it up or talk about its importance.

Be Proud of your choice.Good luck.

The reason some hate Marine's is they never had the drive or desire to do anything that wont come easy or the class to be the finest.

lETS SEE, I met one WM in processing, two at a Colonels office, two in the field that took photos and booked out on a six-by, one at a commo barracks from afar and one at disbursing.
Never got too close to find out if they were a lady, but they were female, some kinda I think.
