I noticed that the USMC has tackle football games. i think that is very cool considering all other branches play flag( ). How do you get involved with these teams? What are the requirements. Here are some pics from usmc.mil to give you an idea of what I am talking about. I think it would be sweet to be a Marine and play football.

Back in the old days...........

We played 8 man ball. I was pretty good in HS and thought it would be a good idea to play for the Beaufort Hornets.

First game I was bestowed the honor of linebacker. We played RTR (recruit training Reg.).

2nd play of the game, and a hole the size of Texas opened in front of me. Through it came the largest RB I've ever seen. My job was simple, just stop said train.

When we hit I swear that DI and I became one. He dragged me 10 yards before he went down.

But I did bring him down.

Yeah, in Sixth Marines we had 8 man football practices, we had Lt. Latimore( former Cleveland Brown De Tackle). We didn't get any gear, our blocking dummies were truck tires.
We did so many field ops and then Nov 4th 1979 came, we did do any football after that.

Can't imagine a Grunt playing, it takes too much time and you have to train in the field al the time.

Marines do have teams, but you'll be lucky if they ever suit up or play.
We had Flag Football at Intel School, Marines and 82nd played on a team, we lost ot the Officers Detachment 6-0. Lost a tooth in that game, friggin O forearmed me in the face off the line!

There used to be base teams that would play teams from other bases not just Marine bases...don't think they do that any more..

A lot of units here at 29 Palms have full-scale football teams, with a little "season" all to our own.


(tackle, of course... with full uniforms and everything)
