ok i sign a contract with the army yesterday but now im thinkin that i really wanna be a marine only reason i didnt pick marine at first is because of my parents so is there any way for me to go marine or do i have to do the army because i sign the contract already
If you are in the DEP, you can ask to be discharged from the Army DEP, and then re-enlist into the Marine Corps DEP. However, expect your recruiter to give you a hard time about it. But if it's what you really want, who gives a **** what the recruiter thinks. Just tell the recruiter that you would like to be discharged from the DEP, and keep insisting that you would like to be discharged from the DEP. Don't back down from whatever "threats" he might throw at you. You are legally able to leave the DEP.
If you want to be released from the Army DEP then that's something you need to discuss with your Army recruiter. Do not expect the Marine Corps recruiter to get involved because he can't and won't until you are released from the Army DEP. However be sure this is what you want so as not to waste any recruiters time. This is the only advice I feel anyone should give you because this is something between you and the Army recruiter.
