Well, unless your going in as a reservist you do not know if your going to ba an 0311. You will be goining in as an 03 and SOI they will assign the last 2 digits and determine what kind of infantryman you'll be.

Most likely you'll be assigned to a infantry battalion at Camp Lejune

probably somewhere hot and dry with lots of sand.

seriously though, it's all luck of the draw.

not sure about Infantry, but all of us non-grunts fill out a "dream sheet" (where we dream we'll be stationed. I never even came close to what i asked for on mine.

Heck all I got after MOS training (circa 1995) were the following choices:

-East Coast

-West Coast

-Overseas

and even those were not certain...

I ended up in a non deployable unit amtrac unit (Line charge platoon) at Camp Pendelton.

Luck O' da draw.

My wish list went something like this

1. East Coast

2. Overseas

3. BLANK

Guess where they sent me?

I might as well just stay in Iraq rather than rotating home.
