Hello all and Marines,
I've been on here on and off and have gotten lots of help in the past.
I'm still waiting on a green card and hopefully it'll come soon.
Next year I turn 29 which I've been told is the maximum age for active duty.
My question is if I don't make it in by the time I'm 29 would it be possible for me to join another branch of the U.S. Military and then get a transfer over into the U.S. Marine Corps?
I've pestered the recruiters at the local office here and I don't want to get in their way anymore since they have more important things to do than diddle around with a non-prospect.
Any information will be appreciated!
Thank you!

I don't know what all the rest is you're talking about but your main question is of course a Recruiter question.

There's some info under my user name that's wrong. I thought it was visible to everyone.

Thanks for the info Deanosaur. I'll go bother the Recruiters some more.

Well, I just got back from boot camp and they told us that for Marines, if we wanted to go to another branch that we wouldn't have to go through their basic training but if they wanted to come to the Marines then they would have to go through boot camp.

So I don't think that you would because no matter what, you would have to go to boot camp and if you are too old to join normally then you'd be too old to join any other way.

Remember me numbers, that throne in your side. I was also the who suspended from here. And yes it was me who put that under your name and it was me who removed it. Now that you have admitted you not going to join the Marines what is your purpose here since you have nothing valid to add?

Danger56,

Going throught Marine Boot Camp gets you in the door of any US military branch without going though their version of it. It has been this way for a long time, long before I went to boot camp in 1979....

But you come here to waste our time? If you are not "a prospect" then you are not a "prospect" to be asking questions here.

Once you become inelligible to join, or give up, you are no longer a "Marine Corps/Considering Joining" member. You will remove that from your profile and not post here again. Clear?

Well, I'm still considering joining and I have another year before I'm too old to go in Active Duty. What I meant by non-prospect is that I'm still waiting on a green card to join. I didn't mean any offense by it. I have never been to Recruit Training, so I haven't even had a chance to quit it.
I am still a wannabe. I figured this would be a good place outside of the Recruiter's office to ask a question. If you feel I am wasting your time, then my apologies again.

To TomHansen, I think you were mistaken in thinking that I was Tunnelvision. I've never changed my name since I first got it. But thanks for correcting the info and not kicking me.
