I know that many navy parent support sites have a Sailor Rescue, but I felt that ALL the branches should be on the list. Have you ever worried about your young service member when he/she drives across the country to come home to visit, or fly in really bad weather? What happens if they get stranded in an airport in a strange town, what if their car breaks down along the way? This has happened this week for some of the navy families, and I am sure it has happened to some in all branches. Would you like to start or join the list I have already to help these brave military members? If so, you can e-mail me directly if you would like to do this... nopersonal emails allowed on the boards. you can be contacted through yoru profile.

no need. they have their own resources. they are big boys and girls now.
Heck, over the Thanksgiving holiday one of DH's Sailors had this exact thing happen.. his car broke down on the way back. he did EVERYTHING he was supposed to do.. contacted his command and let them know what was going on, informed them of what he was doing to fix the problem and got verbal permission from the CDO( who conveniently happened to be his Boss, DH) to take a couple of extra leave days.
The scenarios you describe are not exclusive to the military.. what would you expect if your child was just traveling home from college on break? There's no 'College Student Rescue' is there?
I am sorry you feel there is no need...I know of several young military persons who would disagree. One such person whose car broke down was helped by a member of the Patriot Guard, and even the dealership fixed his car at cost, another young man was stuck in the Denver airport as all flights got cancelled. A family picked him up took him to dinner, kept him over night and got him on another flight when one came available. Even our local Army SSgt said he wished there was something like that when he and his wife got stuck in TX... sorry again...and Happy Holidays to all
I think something like this would be awesome. I do agree that these are big boys and girls who can care for themselves, but come on. They spend most of their time protecting you from a foreign countries threats. And what thanks do you give them? "Oh, you're stuck in the boonies or worse? Wow, sucks for you. I'm sure you'll find your way home...eventually. Thanks for serving and have a great day!!" No. I will do whatever I can to help the military people. That's me.

Agreed. I dont think I/we need something like that. It has happened to me before and I took care of everything with ease. Its a nice thought but really dont see a need for it. Thanks for caring though!
