I would not have missed spending those 2 days with my son for anything. I had a 9-1/2 hr drive but it was worth seeing the smile on his face. It has been a daily struggle since the day he left on Nov. 11th, 2008 but I keep him in my daily prayers and always always have my cell phone with me no matter where I go. As i saw in a previous post always pick up a call with a 706 area code...that is a call from Ft. Benning! I could write forever and give advice re Family Weekend, etc but I see where others have posted. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email me via my profile.

OP, you must have been zooming to do that in 9-1/2 hours. Our trips, when I did it with the family, from NE Atlanta to just north of Longview used to take us about 12 hours. I think I did it by myself in 10 hours one time but that was in a pickup with a 500 mile range so I only had to stop once for gas.

I'm glad that both of you enjoyed your trip. It's even better when they actually graduate.

Hi mturnb,
I am right on the TX/LA border so it was exactly 9-1/2 hrs...not too bad, others had it worse but i as well would drive for days - i would never, God willing, miss anything pertaining to my son! I was so teary eyed just seeing them standing in formation, I am sure I will be crying when i see him graduate Smile
