HI,
my son John is a Marine. And I would like to say where he is it's just i don't know he's aboard a ship and i get an e-mail every so often he's not allowed to let me know where he is although i just got an e-mail and he's just fine. i couldn't be prouder of him

Please don't attempt to tell us where he is. That is a violation of OPSEC and PERSEC. If he's on a ship then there is a possibility that he is in the middle of the ocean somewhere so he couldn't tell you anyway because he doesn't know.

I used to have people get somewhat perturbed at me when they asked where we were because I would just tell them that we are right here (point at the floor) and moving forward. For those that got really perturbed, I would sometimes show them the chart. All it would show as a dot in the middle of a piece of blue paper. There were no land masses anywhere near us so that didn't tell them anything either.

Unless a ship is coming near to a port, it all looks the same. Just a ship sitting in water with nothing to see but water.
