My 21-year-old son is a medic in the Army. This morning he got an email encouraging him to apply to West Point. From what I understand the email says out of the entire Army, only a few soldiers got this email.

Somehow it seems like something like this wouldn't be sent email. Would it?

I need to know, because if it is real, I will proceed with letting my head explode from pride. Smile

I've watched to see if there was anybody who knew something about your West Point email, but I see no response. You did not specify where this email came from. You can web search how to get admission to West Point. If you still have questions, you may want to try going to sorry no outside links You can check out this West Point expert's profile before asking your question. I'm not familiar with this expert, but your question is general in nature. Good luck! From another NW Montana service member's parent.

My son just graduated USMA last May. He knew 2 prior service guys who had been encouraged to attend the Academy. They did well and it is an excellent opportunity. I'd encourage your son to check it out and give it a go. Feel free to ask questions. I'll help as best I can.

Your son can apply to West Point if he meets their current age requirements and has no dependants.

Have him check with his local education center and/or with the USMA website for application procedures. http://admissions.usma.edu/soldiers/

He can also try for a 'Green to Gold" scholarship that is currently being processed at every post in the army. That allows him to attend college and become an officer after graduating. http://www.goarmy.com/rotc/enlisted_soldiers.jsp

He can also talk to his retention NCO who should be able to provide him some information also.

Good luck to him!

He's decided not to apply. He did some research about life at West Point and talked to some men who had been there. Scared the beegeebies out of him.
