Hello everyone.

My son left for BC this morning. Frown He should be in Ft. Leonard, Mo. by now. He called me from the airport today and said "mom, I'm scared". I can't seem to get this out of my head. I've never heard those words come out of my sons mouth. I am not there to watch over him or protect him. (yes, he's a mommy's boy). This has been the hardest thing for me as a mother (cutting that umbilical cord)... I've never spent a day without him. I can't even begin to imagine how a parent feels when their son/daughter gets deployed overseas. My heart goes out to all of you. I am very proud of him but I am a nervous wreck (he will not know this...as I need to be strong for him) Does anyone know of any support group for moms like me?

Thanks, Sissy

Hi Sissy,
Go over to the Boot Camp forum, there is a topic there calld "letter from reception". That topic has been started by a mom whoes son is at FLW right now. She has found several other moms whoes sons are in the same platoon. Go check it out. Interesting reading. You would be welcome as all get out to post whatever you want there.
Congrats to your son.
Just hang in there, things will be just fine.
Chuck

Hi Sissy - You are certainly NOT alone in your feelings!!! My son left for FLW on July 16th. It was so hard not knowing exactly where he was and what he was doing - I'm sure that's what you're experiencing now. Reading all the other posts from "experienced" parents helped SO much. Smile I posted several posts a week ago, but then I dropped off because we were at a baseball tournament for a week (out of town). and then I had a hard time finding some of those posts again - I'm new to this! Being away was even hard because I knew letters might be arriving at home and I wasn't there to get them! I would love to hear from you - one thing that everyone said on these postings was that the first two weeks were the hardest and that was true. Even though everyone told me to expect not to hear from him during those weeks, I kept hoping to be the exception to the rule Wink But no such luck. I don't want to bore you with our experience if you have already read everyone else's explanations, but I would love to chat with you anyway! Hang in there -
Debbie

Did anyone ever hear from Sissy (YachtBebe)? She had posted on another forum and you all invited her over here... her son left for FLW on Aug. 7th and she was very worried. I've thought about her and hoped she would show up over here with us...

Hi Ann -
BRM is Basic Rifle Marksmanship, I think. He couldn't wait to get to this part... I hope he does well.
Chuck, all the target numbers don't mean anything to me Eek ... can someone explain what they have to do to pass marksmanship?
