Help does anyone know when my sons Basic training graduation will be if he reported to Fort Benning on June 12th? Is there a set date or does it depend on his progress
If all went as scheduled probably the week after my son. he went the 4th, was in receiving until the 12th...he grad's August 14. So probably the 21st but no guarantee. soon as you get his address you can check the fort benning website for 192d graduation dates. And you're supposed to get a letter from ft benning....haven't seen one yet.
This is directly from the Ft Benning site regarding graduation. I did look up...think your son's unit would have started 6/19 making graduation 8/21
Family Day The day before graduation, normally Wednesday, the battalion commander meets with friends and family members at their unit to discuss your soldier’s recent experiences and answer your questions. You will also meet the drill sergeants that trained your soldier and observe some demonstrations of soldier skills. Most importantly, you will meet with your soldier.
That afternoon graduating soldiers with visiting adult family members (spouse, parents, grandparents or legal guardians) may receive an on-post pass on Family Day and following graduation until a time determined by the chain of command. While on pass soldiers must remain in uniform and are not allowed to drive vehicles, drink any form of alcoholic beverages or use any tobacco products.
Graduation Day Graduation is the following day, usually on Thursday at Pomeroy Field. The ceremony is at 10:00 a.m. from October through March and 09:00 a.m. from April through September. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place at the Regimental Chapel and the time schedule may change to accommodate more than one ceremony.
Day After Graduation The day after graduation soldiers will usually not be allowed to go on pass. This day is designated as a travel day for their follow on Advance Individual Training (AIT).
so if he went to Benning on the 12th and then goes to AIT also at Benning will he graduate Basic then Graduate again from AIT there in 6 weeks as well? Don't mean to sound stupid I just dont know how this works

Also would I want to go to his Basic graduation or go after AIT I doubt my job will let me do both
My husband got to Fort Benning on June12th as well and his grad is on the 21st of Aug. Does anyone have any resources for more info on the graduation? I will be going by myself with our 1 year old son and I'd like to know about trasportation around the base (airport shuttles and shuttles from hotel to base). I'd rather not have to rent a car but with an infant and 100 degree weather I'm not sure we could do with out it. And I've read in other posts that the hotels closest to the base are in a bad area, don't want to walk in a bad area with an infant by myself either. If anyone out there has recently been to a graduation at fort benning I'd like to get more info. The fort benning website says that soldiers are given a day pass on family and grad day to spend time with adult family members, can he get a pass if my baby is there? Can they leave base or do we just have to hang out on the base for hours all day long? Any answers to these questions would be great. Thanks!
When we went for family day it was at about half way thru training and my son was able to spend the weekend with us at the hotel. I saw alot of young wives there with children also and their Soldier was able to stay with them as well... You definitly don't want to stay close to the base, the hotels there are not in a very safe area. The best place to stay is by the peachtree mall. We stayed at the La Quinta Inn, it was in a good location and the price was good. We did rent a car because we flew into Atlanta and then drove into Ft Benning. You can also look at the www.Foxtrot150.com website they have a message board where you will find answers to some of your questions. Good luck and have fun!!!!
Hey DavidJsMom! If you recall my saying my son also reported to Ft. Benning June 12 and he has since wrote me and told me his expected grad date to be 26th of September. If I'm not mistaken it may also depend on their company they've been assigned to. But, if your son is in Charly co., then he and my son should graduate at the same time as long as they're both successful~ Lord bless them~ I also saw a calendar on the Ft. Benning website. Have you been there yet? many blessings.
Hey Mom2The-Zombie83, They are in the same unit. David also graduates Sept 26th do you know if they will go home on October 1st? that is what David told his dad. Also I got a letter from him and he says its almost fun now. (whew thats a relief) It used to suck and he didnt act like he was into it. He says the DIs treat them like human beings now LOL how is your soldier doing?

also they get a 4 hr on base pass this weekend so we may get a phone call keep your fingers crossed
Hey DavidJsMom! Oh, I'm SO happy they'll be getting the pass! I sent my son (Robert) a phone card so I'm praying he'll be acalling LOL!! You're right, they ARE in the same unit! And my son Robert also stated in his last letter that the DS had been easing up on them. He had said they were really harsh in the beginning to weed out the weak links and that so far, "We've already had 2 guys go AWOL and 5 people are in the nutward on suicide watch." My husband was really concerned when he heard that because he is former Army (70s) and he said they eventually hang AWOLs during times of war because it is considered Treason Robert's doing well; he said they were supposed to be starting road marching this week but he's most excited about their upcoming training with the hummers LOL!
dog-gone it~ post got away from me! Anyway, as I was saying his Dad wont have the decency to let me know anything, I'll have to find out my own way... have you received that Welcome letter they send to tell you all the details? I STILL haven't and I don't know if mabe they sent my ex one and forgot about me? I tried to call my ex but he won't respond to my calls. I've asked my son in the letter to him but he still hasn't said yet~ many blessings
Hi Mom I got the welcome letter June 21st. It wasn't what I thought it should be. It was just a standard letter from the Commanding Officer informing me that David arrived safely. If you want to send me your email address I will have my other son scan the letter and mail it to you. I too have a jerk for an ex husband but I have been nice enough to inform him of everything I get from David (No matter what I think of the idiot he is still the Dad) My email is Pikmeadaisey@aol.com Hope this helps you
Training with the Hummers??? sheesh I haven't adapted to seeing him with a rifle on his back LOL I doubt seriously the AWOL soldiers will face a hanging that was in the old days my husband said. I think they just get a dishonorable discharge or something of that nature. My younger son says they may get military jail time.. not really too sure
Well that's okay; if that's all the letter was, I'm not really concerned about it, but thanks anyway, I certainly appreciate the offer. I know you don't know the particulars of my 1st marriage; my husband wasn't just a jerk it goes way beyond that. He and his wife ignore any efforts I have put forth to keep an open line of communication; so as my Dad tells me- why put myself through that? I've been through enough. My son communicates with his Dad so it wouldn't even have been necessary that I do. Hard as it is, I pray for his Dad's side of the family. That goes above and beyond since his Dad has never wanted my prayers anyway. Enough said. Lord bless you, thanks for the offer.
