hi kerryh I am so new to all this army stuff. What exactly is Turning Blue? In the letter I received from Ft. Benning it said family day and Beret ceremony were on 9.10.08 and graduation on 9.11.08 It also says after each ceremony the boys will be given a pass till 2100 that same day. It says on Friday 9.12.08 they will be processed and shipped to their next duty station. Which for my son will continue at Ft. Benning. How about your son?
The Turning Blue is a ceremony where the Infantry OSUT receive their blue Infantry chords. Is your soldier in BCT or Infantry OSUT? From the days in your letter it sounds as if your soldier might be BCT so there would not be a Turning Blue ceremony. What is your soldiers follow school at Ft Benning?
I forgot to say that my son has 18X Contract and will be going next to Airborne at Fort Benning. He is Delta Company of 1/50th of 198th. I spoke with him briefly and we are both trying to figure out how much time, if any, he will have after graduation but before Airborne holding.
Also, my son mentioned that he's heard that once he's "checked in" for Airborne, they may let him leave for awhile if they know he'll be on hold (I'm not saying it the way he did so hope that makes sense). Anyway, trying to figure out whether he should possibly come home after graduation for a weekend or just wait until "check in" for Airborne. Thanks for any help given! hi everyone, betheaton thanks for explaining Turning Blue. My son is in basic and then is supposed to go on to ocs after also at Ft. Benning He is in charlie co. 3bn 47th inf. kerryh my son said the same thing about after checking in on friday they might get the weekend off we scheduled our flight home on sat morning we live in calif. So now were like do we change our fight or not.
My son is also graduating from Ft. Benning on 9/12, turning blue on 9/11. However, I haven't gotten a call from him in about a week. He's in Delta Company. Has anybody else heard from their son or daughter this past week?
Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone has anyone graduating from Ft. Benning, GA on September 18? If so did you receive any information on graduation yet? I heard your supposed to get stuff sent in the mail a few weeks before but we haven't yet and it's getting kinda close. Also any other information regarding the ceremony and free time with the soldiers would be helpful.
