Hi Proud Army Family,
Congratulations on your son's graduation. I know you are sooo proud of your soldier. They are such special guys (and gals), so generous and giving of themselves. I have so much respect for all of our country's military men and women.
My son was in Foxtrot Company, 2nd Battalion 54th Inf. He is now in Medic training at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. He is scheduled to return to Ft. Benning for airborne training after he completes AIT. It's kind of scary, but we are proud of what he's doing as well as the sacrifices he's making to do this. He has wanted to be a soldier since he was a little boy... and now he is making his dream come true! Our family is so very proud of him as I know you are of your son. I wish you and your family all the best :-) Helen

I have two children that our in the service. My son Sean is in the Army serving his tour in Iraq currently and my daughter Abby is in the Navy stationed in GulfPort. I am proud of both of them.
We have had our differences, but I support them in all their decisions. I am proud that they made the right choice after high school, as there are so many more benefits from serving in the military once they get out. If either one of them decides to make a career out of it, than go for it.
Thank you and God bless you,
Lillis Manning

Hello everyone.
My 17 year-old daughter left for Basic Training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO on Monday. She is doing the split option and will do AIT next summer after she graduates high school.

I did get a one-minute call yesterday and missed it! (she left a voice mail). So far so good. When can I expect a letter so I know where to write her?

Kayla's mom.

Proud SISTER of a Combat Medic stationed in Iraq. Her tour ends next June/July.

I'm more actively involved with my sister than my mother, so I feel I have every right to SIGN IN! Smile

Can't wait till she gets leave in September!

My US Marine son just left Ft Leonard Wood after 3 months of training. It took about a week for him to get back to us with his address. They'll keep her very busy and it'll be days before she'll have time to get back to you. Have patience and be confident that she'll do the right thing as soon as she finds the time.

Update!
Our dd called today and got to talk to her dad for a minute or two...
She is still at Reception, says it is "not that bad" and she will be going to her unit on Monday or Tuesday.
They did have their innoculations yesterday, and she said the boys took them way worse than the girls...LOL!
It is HOT at Ft. LW and that's about it. Poor dd doesn't realize she is not really at BMT yet. We were surprised to get the call today again...very nice.

Son at bct Ft Benning: Received a call on Sunday night. His dad was so excited to hear his voice. I'm sure it was his best gift of the day. Told us should be getting letter soon with address and more info. Said they were doing more now that they went to their unit and that helps.

Hi! I'm the proud mom of Robert from Texas whom left for Fort Benning GA also on Thursday July 12th. He is classified as Infantry. I'm not familiar with all the terms yet... It is SO GOOD to find this site and see that I am not the only mother who is feeling scared, anxious, ect. My son called me early Sunday; oh I was on top of the world! He said he's in the Reception Batallion at this time and that I should be receiving a Welcome letter with more info. before too long. He said he should be getting his tags and uniforms Monday. I hate that I can't call him.

Hey guess what I got my first letter from DJ I feel soo much better He said it isn't that bad at basic mostly just mind games 90% mental 10% physical. He said he has lost 10 pounds and his buddies are his brothers and the Drill sgt. is pissed off daddy lol I am soo happy. He said the trick is to surround yourself with friends and help eachother through it. From what I could tell he acturally likes it!!!!!! Hey 131... this is really cool that both our sons have gone to Ft. Benning at the same time! Are you planning to go to the Graduation? Perhaps we can see each other there~ I think I know why your son didn't call your cell; from what I was told they aren't allowed to carry a cell with them and so my son called me from a payphone and payphones don't get reception to cellphones. So, I'm wondering what is the usual time they are allowed to call morning or evening so I can be off the internet at that time. Does any1 know?

My son called Sunday at 1:40 I think they call on Sundays not too sure of that do you know when graduation even is?
I wouldn't miss ir for the world. His recuiter sgt. told me 500 went there on that day. Yes I called shhh. don't tell anyone. He was really pretty cool about it told me what I needed to know. Told me it was ok to call anytime I needed to know something. Maybe because he knows the same people my husband does he giving us a break not to worry I won't abuse this priviledge . My son would kill me if he knew lol.

Not sure of the day but my son made it clear in his last letter that they get 3 calls total the whole time they are there. One in each phase. My son left for Fort Benning June 4 and graduates Aug 14. So adjust your dates accordingly. Probably means came week later, grad date week later.

My Name is John Griffin and I'm an Air Force Veteran. I have two daughters who served in the Army. One of them went to Iraq while the other one was stationed stateside(thank god, because it made the sleepless nights a little easier). They are both out of the Army but joined the reserves; one is stationed in New York and the other is stationed in San Antonio, TX. I also have two son-in-laws in the Army.
