My son has said on the phone and in letters that they have been told there will be no graduation ceremony for his graduation from basic ..... ???

Could this really be true - they are going to "hold off" until they graduate AIT School?

I haven't recieved any letters from the base whatsoever and my sone has been there 30 days. Are they just giving the recruits a hard time over in Fort Leonard Wood?

Is your son in OSUT, or is he attending two separate schools (separate BCT and AIT)?

I'm sorry, I don't know the term "OSUT."

He's going through basic, then on to MP school. He was given the choice from the recruiter to go to MP school in the fall, but he decided to do it all now and get it over with.

Is it unusual for me to have not received a letter after 30 days?

Are you referring to not getting any letters from your son in 30 days? If he has a girlfriend, I would say no. They have limited time for things like writing letters.

As for the graduation, you should receive a packet of info from the command. I've never heard of graduation from basic training being canceled.

actually it sounds like he is in OSUT (One Station Unit Training) which is Basic and AIT ( the equivilant of tech school for you non army types) combined and it would not be unheard of for them not to have graduation at the end of the basic portion of the course-especially since the weather in January in the mid west closed ft Lost in the woods and ft knox for several days affecting the schedule-if they had something planed it may have been put off in order to allow the class to get back on schedule so they can graduate the entire course in time for the next cycle to begin on time.
