For all of those reading who have already been to graduation or know anything about it, I have a question/questions...
According to the Ft. Benning website, my son's schedule BCT start date is 9/18 and graduation on 11/20. When do I need to make reservations and is there a particular place nice to stay or a place to avoid? I was reading about the lodging on base there too, they are much cheaper than the off base motels are. Anyone have suggestions? I would love to hear them. Thank you.
If you have done your research then you do know about all the hotels in the area. Your son should be able to get a discount, or you maybe able to as well since he will be grad. and they give military personal discounts. I believe the Days Inn South would be great.
Thanks, I miss you..I heard through the grapevine there is a street of hotels to avoid, not safe, etc..Thanks for the info. I couldn't remember which road that was to avoid though..
The streets to avoid are Veterens Parkway and Victory Drive. Apparently, they are 'shady' neighborhoods. I hear Uchee Creek is good but about 30 minuted from Graduation.
I'm still looking for a the best deal and cheap flights.
I'v read the same avoid places that are real close to ft.benning, looks like staying in colombus is the best bet... if anyone has a safe and clean place in mind please let me know. thanks
The best thing to do and get the most for your money I have found is to go Hotwire.com I was able to book a 3 star hotel in the columbus area for 39.00 a night the catch is that you are letting Hotwire book a hotel for you but, you get a good hotel for half the price. I have never been disappointed I do this everytime I travel. For the savings and upgrade you can't beat it
hi how do you know there not going to give you a hote thats in the area's you dont want to be like vic.dr. or others??? any way to find out the name of the hotel they want to book you at?? thanks
My son is graduating 11/6. We chose to stay at a B&B located in Columbus. We're flying in the day before Family Day and flying out the day after Graduation. It wasn't cheap, but we rarely splurge on travel so it's a nice change.
It'll be nice to be able to do the whole Riverwalk thing with my husband during the time we're not with our son.
