Hi Everyone,
I joined this forum 2 yrs ago when my son was in basic training at Ft Benning and I was just in terrible need of people who understood what I was going through. He was 22 yrs old at the time and just pretty much quit college (he was a junior) and up and joined the Army! I was dismayed!! I just wanted to thank everyone here because you really did help me through that rough time. Things have gone well though! My son is up for promotion to Sergeant (goes before the promotion board this week) and will be deployed for the 2nd time later this year. First time was to South Korea but he doesn't know yet where he'll be going this time. So I'm very proud of how hard he has worked and everything he's done in the Army. I'm happy that he finally seems to have found his niche in life and loves what he does. I'll feel better when I know where in the world he is going to be going this time! He's in Patriot Missiles so it's unlikely that it'll be a combat zone but one can never tell until they get the orders! Again thank you everyone for all your support and understanding. Just thought I'd share some happy good news! |

Hi Armymom,
I'm glad to hear your son is doing well. I had the same feeling when I found this site this last year. My son joined quickly and unexpectedly as well. It took me quite a while to accept his decision. Of course, I was already proud of him for joining, just had to deal with my own fears. May your son continue to thrive and remain safe. Hugs, Melanie |
