I finally heard from my son since Christmas exodus. He found out he will be posted to Ft. Hood after grad. Isn't that good news? And even though its far from me, He will be close to his father who is in Dallas. I am hoping that maybe he will get to see his dad more, maybe have a relationship. Something they haven't really had the opportunity to have.

I'm glad to hear that you got the letter. Ft. Hood is a huge base and it is closer to his father but it's still a long way. The northeast side of Ft. Hood is just south of Waco. The middle of Dallas to the middle of Waco is like a trip from Springfield to St. Louis. The southeast side of the base is closer to Austin so that is about four hours. When most people think of Ft. Hood, at least the east side of it, they think about Killeen. That is a little bit over 150 miles from Dalals.

I hope he gets to spend some time with his father but don't be surprised if it is a pretty small amount of time because of the distance. Those who have never lived in Texas usually have a hard time comprehending the size of the state.

Too true. Its one of our biggest states, I know that and I think he is happy that he will still be in the states for awhile. I know I am. I know that the overseas is coming, but as far as he can put it off, the better, I think. I am soo excited about this weekend though. Its family day at Benning.
