You too???? LOL I listen to Davids (DJS) voice on a daily basis. Whew that makes me feel better
I thought I sounded like I was over protective and wouldn't admit to anyone I was doing this. Hang in there Mom you will get a call soon. I was soo excited all I could say was I love you i miss you and i am proud of you over and over. He had to raise his voice to tell me to shut up long enough to tell me something. He knows I am off from work due to surgery and was trying to let me know he sent me money to help pay for things while I was off work. (I dont need his money and am doing ok ) Its just the way he is.
God Bless our soldiers and their Families HOOAH!

If our sons only knew the things we do to keep us from going crazy while their away . Big Grin I got a letter from my son today he said he was sorry, he had a chance to call on monday because their platoon did so well the ds was letting them use their cell phones BUT he did not call because his bunk mate was ill and he went with his bunk mate to the hospital and stayed with him all night. Of course I know in my heart he did the right thing and that phone call will come until then I have my cell phone Wink

faithful4him1 god bless you and your son where ever he is.we our lucky our boys are still here in the states I take one day at a time and dont want to think about what happens after graduation may god bless all our boys/girls and keep them safe

Congratulations DavidJsMom! I don't know what happened, I didn't get a call from my son this past wkend; unless he tried to call while I was online and since we don't get high-speed here it's all dialup and blocks calls from coming in. I tried to stay off. I just don't know. I know I miss my son's voice SO much and I can't hardly wait for September to get here@!!!
many blessings

Hi all and Zombie, David called at 8:00 pm he said he was doing well. He said he will look around to identify your son. Robert from Texas right?? I told him to tell your son you was helping me through this as well as everyone else here. He wrote back that he was gonna tell your son I was a dork. LOL He doesn't understand me crying to a computer for support. I can bet he did call but Davids call was less than 3 min as alot of people were in line to use them. I am sure you will get another call soon

Hi DavidJsMom!

My husband is at Fort Benning as well. Left on July 15th. I havent heard from him yet either. If your son calls back please have him look out for my guy. His name is James, from Illinois. He is Asian (that might help hehe) I really miss him and would like to hear from him. If he knows or sees him, if he could pass that message a long. *sigh* This is much harder than I thought it would be. Congrats to you on hearing from your son Smile

Ohh I was at lunch and rushed.. but if he does bump into him... if your son could let James know Im thinking of him... I understand if he "cant" call. Its just hard hearing that some there are getting calls, and others of us arent.

Is that up to the drill sgts? How are some being allowed to calls and others not?

Thanks much
Vicki

The DI has to give them permission to do everything. The only reason David got to call was because they did exceptionally well that day on Pt and obstacle course. So they were able to have phone priviledges. You won't believe how i got David to write me more, I threatened him that I would send a subscription to "playgirl" to him in Basic LOL I think he freaked out and went and bought a whole lot of stamps and paper because the letters started rolling in almost every other day (hehe) By the way what company is your husband in?

he left June 12th Saturday was the first time I heard from him. He did get to call one other time a few days after he got there but I wasn't home Curse Its only been the last week or so he has come to love it he says, I thought I was gonna have to go down there and cuss someone out and bring him back home (just kidding) because he sounded so awful the first 4 weeks so all is good in my life now he is at the halfway mark til graduation now. Hey vicJam, from what I understand, the new recruits aren't allowed phone privs during reception only to quick call home as soon as they have arrived; but after they begin BCT it's up to the DS. hang in there!

Hi Mom2

From what Im seeing on other boards, forums.goarmy.com to be one - a few have been able to call home (one guy several times in fact) from reception at Fort Benning. Not sure why some are and some arent.

James didnt even get to call when he first got there. I havent had contact for a week now. Last we spoke was on the bus ride down there from Atlanta (on his cell phone)
