Hello everyone!
First question is am I ALLOWED to ship dry ice to Iraq? Second question would then be has anyone actually done it before and does it really work and make sure things stay cold/frozen. I was planning on shipping cool whip, so it wouldn't need to stay frozen, just as long as it was still cold. Thanks ahead of time for the input! |

So far everything I've read sounds like it's a no for shipping dry ice overseas. If anyone knows differently or has an idea for how to ship cool whip please let me know.
Thanks again! |

Call or stop by your local post office and ask.
Even so, I'm not sure dry ice would last long enough. It's taking 7-10 days for packages from what I understand. I sent lobsters from Maine to New Mexico next day air with dry ice. They screwed up and they got there on the second day instead of next day. All the dry ice was gone. This was in December too and not during the summer heat. Needless to say that was a loss of money since they couldn't cook and eat them then. Sgt Mom Everything becomes a little clearer, I realize what life is all about. I really dont think there is any way to do that--especially not this time of year-you can't send dry ice thru the postal service at all-just shippers like ups and those things that dont deliver to iraq-and there is nothing you can ship thats going to keep coolwhip cold let alone frozen for an indefinate amount of time-since there is no way to know how long something will take in the mail. The only possible way to do this would be to know someone working in the DFAC on the FOB you want to send it to who could assist you by obtaining it with their suppiles-and i dont think thats workable either-your soldier may just have to wait til he gets home to eat cool whip.

nope. for one, cool whip is too perishable to ship under any circumstances. Dry ice I believe is ONLY for ground transportation anyway and never lasts longer than 24-48 hours.
I get my steaks shipped in from KS and there is never any dry ice left and they are delivered within 2 days of shipment. cool whip that has gone bad is NASTY( an incident with a very hot car *shudder*) There can be no freedom without sacrifice |

Unfortunately those are the responses I figured I would get. Oh well, guess I'll think of other ideas for care packages.
Thanks again! And Mrsjvb, that incident with the very hot car does NOT sound good and not something I would want to purposely send to my man. |
