Alright. The father of my children has just decided to join the Army. We have a two year old daughter and I am currently 6 1/2 months pregnant. We have never been married. We just broke up but had been planning on moving back in together. His Army recruiter said for him not to say anything about his kids cause it would be harder for him to get into the Army since he had children out of wedlock. Why is this?
Also I'm pretty sure i know the answer to this one... but just to be sure. He wants us to live together... Army won't let us will they? You have to be married to live on base right?
If he does join he'll be gone for 6 1/2 months. Army will not let him come home for the birth will they?
1. He does not want to lie about his children on his application. This could lead to big problems later.
2. You are correct, you will not be able to live with him in base housing unless you are married. Further, since he is single, he will be required to live in the barracks.
3. No, the Army will not let him come home for the birth of your child.
thank you! why would the recruiter tell him that? it frustrated both of us because we are very proud of our children and would never say that we didn't have children.
I think that he's gonna think about this a lil harder. i doubt he realizes that he'll be living in the barracks. Thank you
Single parents may not enlist in any active duty Branch. If he lies about having them he is committing Fraudulent enlistment and when he tries to add them to DEERS in order to get them the benefits they( the children) are entitled to, he will be found out and he will get into a LOT of trouble. All he needs to do is produce legal documentation that he does NOT have legal or physical custody and then it's no longer an issue. there will need to be a separate court order for Child support.
because he is single he will not be permitted to live off base..only in the Barracks. No, you cannot live with him on base as you are not married.
No he will not be permitted to leave training to attend the birth. they don;t even allowed married men to do so.
I should add that should you go ahead and get married, he may require a waiver for having three dependents..you and both kids.. yes unborn children count for initial entry purposes.
Furthermore you will not be permitted to live with him during his training anyway(unless it is more than six months long) even if you were married.
