Hello everyone, I had a question I hope maybe someone might have some information on.

My fiance was in the marines for eight years (1993-2001) recently, he had his car broken into, and his box of military pictues and pins was stolen. He was absolutely devestated.

I was able to buy all of his pins online (although its not as meaningful) and for his birthday I would really like to get his picture of him in his dress blues to be framed. Does the military keep these pictures or are they tossed after so many years?

Thank you for any information in advance.

Jessica

If he ever took a promotion picture at any base, the PAO (Public Affairs Office)at that base may have them.

I was in about a year longer than he was, so I'm assuming he had to take pictures for SSgt select. They would probably have a copy of them. But these pics are usually taken in our Service Charlies.

As for Dress Blue pictures, the Recruit Depot where he went to boot camp will have his. Just contact the PAO on either Parris Island, or San Diego, wherever he went to boot camp. They will (should) also have the two pictures of his enitre platoon. One in dress blues and the other in cammies.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, National Guard or Reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand that - Author unknown.
