President Jimmy Carter was a Submariner.
Montel Williams was an Intelligence Officer. The plans to bomb Pearl Harbor were drawn up in what is now the office of Commander, Naval Forces Japan at Yokosuka Naval Base Japan. The U-505 (now on display in Chicago) was used as a propaganda machine to sell war bonds by the US Navy after it's capture from the Germans. It sailed up and down the East Coast being shown off as a War Prize. My grandfather sailed aboard her. The "Blessing of the Fleet" that takes place every Spring at the Navy Memorial in Washington DC contains waters from all seven seas. This is also the only time a female wears the traditional Cracker Jack dress Blue Uniform, when she is assigned to the Ceremonial Guard. There can be no freedom without sacrifice |
