Hello everyone, my name is Leala and I am very new to all of this. I just put a comment up on the check in link, so if you are reading this again I apologize. My boyfriend joined the Air Force and just finished BMT about a month ago and is now in tech training. He will be gone a total of almost 6 1/2 months, which I know is probably nothing for most of you. We are about 3 months into it now, and it has not been easy at all. I know we are still at the very beginning of all of this and it is only going to get harder and time apart will be longer as well. Any input for a newbie ?
Thanks
Leala

Hi Leala,
I have only been married to my husband for four years now so compared to others, I am still new as well. My husband has been in the Navy for six years and is going to do another three years or possibly even stay in for as long as he can. I know how you feel and remember how hard it was for me to get used to the military life. One of the best things that I can tell you is to keep yourself busy while he is gone. Go out with friends or join some classes like yoga or something like that where you can maybe meet other women who are going through the same thing you are. Me and all of my girlfriends get together a few times a year when our husbands are away and go do a poll dancing class. We have so much fun being with each other and our husbands like us doing it too. Wink Talking to other women online who are military girlfriends or wives helps a lot too. If you don't know how to go about meeting people who have the same thing in common as you, then come to this website and talk online. Just do whatever you can to keep yourself busy that way you are not thinking about the distance that is between the two of you and dwelling on the time that you have left before he gets to come home. It is hard at first, but you can do it. If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask. There are a lot of smart women who chat on here and they will be able to answer any questions that you have and give you advice at any time. Just hang in there.

I'm a newbie as well. My boyfriend is in the National Guard, he joined a few months ago. He recently left for BCT in June. Its been the hardest thing that I've ever been thru. But dont worry, it gets easier as you go.
