My wife has decided she wants to join the Active Airforce. And that raises some questions for me.

I'm currently in the national guard as an E3. If she gets stationed some where over seas how does that effect me? I spoke with my CoC last night and they weren't really sure and our 1st sgt said he would speak to the commander on my behalf.

One thing that was suggested was Active duty army. Would we be stationed some what (100 miles or so) near each other, or is it just a "we'll try to station you that close but don't hold your breathe" type deal?

Even if you are both active duty and in the same branch they can only "try" to station you within 100 miles of each other. Being different branches makes that even more difficult.

As for what you would need to do if sent overseas I'm not sure. I seem to remember reading on one thread that you could basically take a leave of absence type deal while overseas. Don't quote me on that, but there is some way to handle this other than going active duty yourself.

Hmm thanks much, going active duty is something I've wanted to do pretty much after I got home from AIT, national guard isn't right for me. But I only have 4 more years so I'll just deal till I'm up for reenlistment then go active thanks
