My dh has many ACUs that I would like to sell (he really has way too many taking up a ton of room; he hates to shop but loves buying unis & boots! some still have the tags on them). Has anyone ever done this? Is there a 'safe' place to do this online? (We do not live very close to a base -- Dix is about 30 mi. away.)

Check the thrift store on Dix. You won't get full price for anything, but you might get something.

However, don't be surprised if they're not allowed to sell uniform items - I rarely see those in thrift stores on installations.

I know the Navy thrift stores can. My husband picked up more than half his Officer uniforms (including the dress whites and blues) before going to NSI for $200 at the one in Groton.

Thrift stores do sell uniforms.. at least every TS on every base we have ever been on( including here at Meade and POM) that being said.. NOT on consignment.. you donate them and get the tax write off.

if he wants to sell them he needs to use the base newspaper classifieds section.

Another option is to donate some. Google the group "Bands for Arms". It is a pretty stellar way to give back to the families of servicemembers.

I worked for a while at an Army/Navy surplus store while we were at Ft. Drum, and we bought used uniforms and equipment all the time. See if you have one near you and you may be able to sell them there.

There are plenty of uniforms in our thrift store here (Korea), too- not consignment, just donation.
