Commit - v.if you commit yourself to something, you promise that you will do it or support it.
SCRIPTURE Numbers 30:1b-2 This is what the Lord commands: When a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said. Psalm 37:5,6 Commit your way to the Lord;trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Ecclesiastes 5:5 It is better not to make a vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. Matthew 5:37 Simply let your 'yes' be yes and your 'no' be no; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always giveyourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. See also: Genesis 21:1-2; Proverbs16:3; 1 Peter 4:19 DISCUSSION Think about the current committments in your life, and what would happen if you failed to keep your committment. (baseball team, music group, church choir, bible study group, job, caring for your children, etc) If you failed to keep your committments, who would be hurt? Who might suffer? How would your team members or those who depend on you feel if you did not keep your committment? WHAT SHOULD YOUR NUMBER ONE COMMITTMENT BE? Psalm 37:5-6 has that answer (see above). How seriously have you taken that committment? That verse also reveals what God does for us when we honor that committment. Making God the center of your life must be your primary committment.......... make it a priority in your life today. God bless you all, Amy In the end, he showed them he was anything but frail. They hammered him to a cross, but he was tougher than nails! ~~~ Joe Diffie |
