I just gotta find out from other people, because this is starting to eat at me.

I have been out of the Navy for about 11 1/2 years. I live in Oregon. When you register to vote, you also are registering for Jury Duty.

I have never been selected for Jury Duty. My wife has been selected 3 times. My oldest son twice in the past 2 years.

When I registered I registered as an Independant. (Ok, I always vote Republican, one day I will re-register as a Republican).

I am curious as to why I have never been selected for Jury Duty. I am wondering if there is some flag somewhwere that says I am a Disabled Vet.

I would LOVE to be on Jury Duty. Its paid by my employer, and I get to work Day Shift instead of nights... would be like a vacation for me. (Unless I got one of those rare murder trials or something where they hide you in a hotel room, I wouldn't want that).

Any thoughts from anyone?

I have been registered to vote in this area for 26 years and never called to jury duty. The one time my wife was I think her father was sick and she could not serve.

I registered to vote here right after I retired and was summoned 9 months later. I have friends who have lived here 10-20 years and have never been summoned.

I've lived in the same place for 35 years and back in the 70's, I was called to jury duty 5 times in less than two years....haven't been called since.

I think it's just the luck of the draw.

Ah, Jury Duty.

the first time I was selected was by Riverside County California. I had a Drivers License from there, however, I was stationed in Texas and participating in Desert Storm....I ended up with a warrant for my arrest for not reporting for Jury Duty. When the warrant came to my fathers home, he explained that I would probably MUCH rather be sitting in some nice quiet jury than be where I was. Warrant was dropped.

I was selected twice more in California after I got home, never had to serve, just the call ins.

Ive been selected once here in Utah, same thing, just call in.

Now if you want to get OUT of jury duty, here are some tricks Ive seen used over the years:

From CSM Brunette, 1/68 Armor: Walk in and immediately say "Which ones the guilty bastard?"

From a friend in California (only works in Liberal States): Wear an NRA Button

Hey,
You anywhere near The NM border. I know that the reservation in gallup has federal positions for all types of occupations. Look up the IHS website (Indian health service) and there are job listings there. Very new facility, not hampered by insurance companies, and in need of all typer of occupations, esp IT type stuff. The facility is paperfree, relying on computrt systems.

Hi Again.

You're right. There is indeed 2 medical facilities and they are located on Highway 666 between Gallup and Shiprock NM.

I lived in Virginia for 10 years after I retired from the Army and was registered to vote there.I never did get a call for jury duty.I moved to Alabama and been here for 10 years I did get called one time, however it was for a county other than the one I live in and they dismissed me once they were notified of the area I live in. There is a road in both counties that are the same number (275) that's how they got it messed up. I don't think they would want me no how for they would all be guilty....Sgt D

I am 61, lived here 38 years and just got called 1st time.
My buddy started giving me tips to dodge it and I told him I was a better man than that and STFU.
He never served anywhere and has no concept of duty. Got ****ed at my response.
Made X-buddy list.
