I have found in my fathers possessions two world war 2 dollar bills. On one of the bills are about 20 names of US servicemen, the second has only one (Leonard Klein - then something then N.Brunswick NJ) . I'm at a loss as what to do with these bills, I don't particularly want to throw them out so thought I'd ask your members if they were worth researching more. What I do know... The bills were found in my father's effects, he served with the Royal Navy during the war in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. It's hard for me to make out some of the names as they are on the most part signatures, but a couple that are clear are John Scattiglio, a man called Rechtsteiner, a John Patterson, Bob Wahlberg and many others. I've singled out John Scattiglio and (something ?) Rechtsteiner as they seem unique whilst many others are common names. I have no idea how prevalent this signing of dollar bills was during the war, perhaps there are thousands but thought if any of the people who signed them were still alive it would be nice for them to see them again after 60 plus years. If there is no interest I’ll start ringing likely candidates from the white pages. I have no idea if all the names are from a single unit or ship or just a random set of names from individuals in a bar/pub/cafe whatever. Thanks for your time... Steve
