I'm going in to the "data systems" mos. Which specific sub-catagory can they send me too? Thanks. And by the way I'm swearing in on Feb. 2.

So this is what I have came up with. MOS include:

0511
0651
0656

How acurate is this? I feel like my recruiter is not telling me everything. My main concern is the 0511. This seems like it has nothing to do with "data systems."

Is any of this correct? I'm just trying to confirm all the details before I make this commitment. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

I know this is an old post but if you are going in as Data Systems you should be going as either a 0651 Data Systems Administrator or 0656 Tactical Data Systems Admin they both mos go through as 0651's then if you lucky you can ge tthe follow on school and become a 0656. I loved being data I think its one of the best jobs in the corps becuase you get to learn a lot of skills that can transfer over into civilian work. Also its jsut a great job to have as a Marine, you get to work with computers all day and most of the time when your in the field and you network is good your just on watch and get to play on the computer, watch movies, read knowledge that kind of stuff. If you are thinking of joining and like computers study for your asvab get a good score and beg your recuriter for this mos, I promise you will love it. Espcially when you see the radio guys humping those radio's around and pming them all the time
