Easy, sarg. Take a deep breath.

I'll get to it. Once you find a name, click on it. A menu drops down. The top option is "check so-and-so's public profile". Click that. That takes you to that person's bio page. Near the top-left, one of the yellow boxes says "send a message". Click that and, on the next page, type away then send. You may discover another way to send messages (I haven't). Try this but don't consider it the best or last word on the subject. Just don't give up. Go back to the board you posted to and ask again, if you have to. I hope I understood your post correctly and that this is is what you wanted to see. I'm trying right now to send you an email just the way I described here and am encountering a snag. First time for that. Now I'll try to work it out.

I know the feeling of wanting to get 'er done but posting is kind of like learning to drive a car, you gotta take the time to learn the "moves" to to do what you want to do. Then practice. Sorry if I come across as patronizing, I don't mean to. These boards are huge and I doubt if there are any short cuts to catching on but the more time I spend here looking around and reading and then posting, the better it gets.

I really appreciate the help and guidance. I am not giving up, th ething is i kind of go tused to marines.togetherweserved.com and it is really easy to navigate for people such as myself who may be a little "computer challenged". But thank yo for the instructions for what has worked for you and i will surely give it a try. I will take your advice and re-post should it not work.

Jonathan,

One does not have to be very "computer challanged" to find Mil.com complex. It's the most difficult forum I've ever tried to navigate. Unfortunate I'm not IT savvy enough to begin to suggest possible improvements. My hat's off to them though for their effort. I see much more advertising on the premium site I bought into before I came to Mil. Plus that site censors EVERYTHINK: profanity (natch) but also url's and email addresses. Users have to be really coy to get around some of the goofy prohibitions. So, I spend most of my time here and learn something new every day. Thanks Mil.com!

One thing to remember,is if doing a "Buddy Search" and the only thing displayed is the DOD record and no military.com link to a profile for the person you are looking for it means they are NOT registered on military.com,hence NO profile to go to to then click on the "Send A Message".
NO profile on military.com NO way to contact them through this site.

You mean If I do a "buddy search" on mil.com, I should get a DoD "record" of some sort. I always only get something like, file not found.

Mil.com in no way has all the DOD records posted, so yes, you could get the "record not found" responce.
