1) Good to see Mr. Hayden back. He's one of the reasonable op-ed contributers.
2) "Cowboys should but punished, no doubt. But the key thing to remember here is that outsourcing in and of itself is not the problem.
" No offense, H.T., but this is either a condescending remark or the national dialogue on private contracting is truly so childish that this reminder is needed. I wish I could say it was not the latter.
3) "Outsourcing" mainland duties or support duties at bases far removed from the "war zone" would not have stirred the outcry. "Outsourcing" part of the job of our Military did. Circumventing Rule-of-Law did. Gunmen-for-hire getting rich off of American tax-payers money did. Siphoning off special ops personnel trained at great expense by the American tax-payer did. The political agenda of a certain Erik Prince did. Blackwater is truly a "black-eye" for America, IMHO.

Over outsourcing in and of itself is the problem. The troops are standing by while the contractors are doing the job this is redundant wasteful and in the case of Army communications troops it really limits their chances of getting a good job post military.
