Hello everyone, i'm not sure where to post this question, i figure here might be a good place. I'm currently going to college full time and i'm also an enlisted e-4, i'm interested in doing the PPEP or OCS program, so does it matter what your degree is in? i've heard different things on this subject.

Generally it doesn't matter what degree you get. Although there could be one person on the board that it matters. To me what's More important is your grades vs types of individual courses you take (difficulty). Remember the degree is a qualifier to get in the door, the rest of your package is what gets you a seat at the table.

I agree with Sac, degree type matters little - it is a foot in the door requirement. In a rare exception, if the needs of the service happens to need a particular type background (finance, engineer, etc), it may give you a very little bump by type of degree.

BUT... you're taking a big risk trying to guess what the needs of the service might be 2-3 years down the road... what it is today, may not be what it'll be then. More important that it's something you enjoy, might use in later life, and you do well.

As I've said elsewhere... you're an E-4 now, more importanlty make E-5, perform well, and show leadership roles within the service and in the community to be more competitive.

Hope that helps.
Best Wishes
