Basic Training |
Hello, i have been thinking about joing the CG as an intel officer via the DCO option. I served 3 years enlisted in the Army as an intel analyst, have my AA in Intel operations, and will have my BS in Information Systems within 9 months. Furthermore I have been a government contractor for the last 2 years working on real world intel products. I also have an active clearance, TS/SCI.
I guess to me it seems the only problem I may face is the fact I am still 9 months away from my BS...does anybody have an idea of what my chances of being accepted are or if the 9 months presents that much of a problem, since my degree is online a comission would not disrupt my graduation date...? Additionaly I have several active duty officers who can vouch for me whom I work with daily (albeit not Coast Guard)and I have alot of applicable experiance. I contacted the recruiter of Friday and am still waiting to hear back from him. Also what are some duty stations an Intel officer in the coat guard can expect? I appreciate any help anybody can give me. |

I'll help you on part of that question. Other than Doctors (who are really USPHS member wearing CG uniforms) and Chaplains (who are really USN Officer wearing CG Uniforms), the CG expects all of it's officers to be well rounded. Not all of your tours would be as an Intel Officer.
