Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I've been doing a lot of research on how to become a physician assistant in the military, preferably the USCG. I'm 23 years old and a freshman standing in college. I know about the PA program the USCG offers, but correct me if I'm wrong, isn't that available only to warrant officers? I was wondering if any PA's around here could shed some light or info on how to become a PA. For example, I would by all means prefer to go to a civilian graduate school of my choice and then do my commitment to the USCG. Is there a way to join now, being eligible for any educational or scholarship program that would let me finish up my bachelor's and move on to graduate school while receiving tuition assistance?
Or would I have to finish PA school on my own 1st and then join? I've heard about the USPHS and am also considering that as a second choice, but due to the limited amount of info on that on the web, it's been hard trying to make a plan for myself. I've contacted recruiters from both USCG and USPHS but have yet to hear from them. Any and all information would be appreciated, thanks! Chris |
