Call your local Sector HS Department and get the word from the Horse's Mouth. Dont take some of the replies on a discussion board as gospel. Sorry I am far from a Medical Professional.

OS1:
I am curious as to why you saw the non-MD psychologist in the first place.
I've taken the MMPI, a 720 question test that looks for certain patterns in you answers (consistency) and at the answers themselves (I took it while applying for my first PD back in '84).
Just curious.

I was forced to. My LT at the time had recommended me to seek some help because my wife had 2 miscarriages and while at work I had a breakdown.
Somewhere down the road the recommendation became an order and I was sent because apparently I did not follow this order. They said that was erratic behavior.
It's a pretty long story and theres a lot of small details, but what I really am sour about is the fact that I only saw this guy 1 time and was kicked out because of a test. I could understand if I had just joined the Guard, but come on... 10 year guy. I was thrown away like garbage.

Mr Mazz; CG Medical Officers don't venture on this board that much, so don't expect any answers from them.
If you want my thoughts, I would need more info. You said you had a Admin Sep board, who recomended retention. What happened then?

I don't really know what happened after the admin board MC. I guess it went to CG Legal at HQ. I'm assuming they make the final decision, as the board was just a recommendation.
I understand why they discharged me, as per medical manual.
But 1 Doctor visit and 1 test ruined my life, my career. How does the CG do that to someone who has been in for 10 years. It just does not make sense. And the way I was treated, it was appalling. Even my XO at the time told me in his own words that "I was a lost cause". I mean come on. I may sound bitter, but my life has really been put on hold because of all this and a lot of the goals I set for myself and my family have been ruined. It's tough to swallow...I would give anything to have stayed in Petaluma now.

Oh missed the first question you asked. The Admin Sep Board recommended me for retention.

OK, so I am still a little confused, was it an admin discharge or a medical discharge?

I rcvd an Honorable Discharge.
So I was told there was something medically wrong with me and that I could no longer serve, but they gave me an Honorable. It's just another thing that confuses me about the whole situation.

That shouldn't confuse you at all. There is nothing dishonorable about having a medical condition that precludes further service.
But that doesn't answer my question. Was it a ADMIN discharge, or a MEDICAL discharge?

I am going to assume Medical then. But as I said, I received a Honorable Discharge. They discharged me because of a medical condition, but instead of a medical discharge I received Honorable. That's what confuses me.

REASONS FOR DISCHARGE You may receive a discharge for many reasons. Under almost all conditions, whenever and however you leave the Coast Guard you will receive a discharge. Some of the reasons for receiving a discharge are as follows: Expiration of enlistment Disability, dependency, or hardship Fulfillment of service obligation Convenience of the government Unsuitability
If you haven't been in trouble then you will most likely get an honorable.

Just a spot to check up on definitions and procedures, a lengthy download, but the Personnel Manual is on line. It might be a good starting point to see exactly what the different definitions for discharges sre, what they entail, etc etc. Chapter 12 B ?? might be a spot to dig into. http://www.uscg.mil/directives/listing_cim.asp?id=1000-1999

Unsuitability is the reason as per the medical manual.
But the bottom line to me is 1 Visit/45 min and a test got me kicked out? How unfair is that? 10 Years of Honorable Service.
