I've been reading many different things on the difficulty of becoming a pilot for the CG.

Some threads say it is extremely competitive out of OCS to get into Flight School, some say most people that are applying are getting in.

Any update on this for 2009?

I will have a BA in Sociology this Christmas and have been thinking about OCS for about two years.

Going to Flight School out of OCS, over the "Go Blue" program with the 11 year commitment sounds optimal to me. Dream Job.

Yes we do need pilots. However, supply of qualified candidates (via all commisioning sources Academy, OCS, DCA) is high, which creates competition.

That being said, it's easier to be selected for flight school than OCS.

Keep the cart behind the horse,

Dave

30 Day suspension. TOS section 6i, posting on multiple accounts (SuperDuperFlyKat and billstopay).

Listen to tweet, the first battle will be getting into OCS not flight school.

Not to put words on the screen for picnic, but I think Blue 21 is the proper nomenclature. Either way is an 11 year commitment.

Well I have heard of Blue 21 so that makes more sense. I thought there might be a new program out there.

For the record, and to play semantics, Blue 21 isn't an 11 year commitment. It is actually two commitments that cannot serve concurrently. THree years for OCS and 8 for graduating flight school.

All aviatiors from OCS, and the Academy have the same flight school commitment no matter what program they used to get there.
