So, as for spending the last 3 years of my life at a small boat unit, how will my life differ on a cutter? What are the differences in the "BM" rating from deck to nav or even LE. It will be like a whole new Coast Guard for me. Are there any other BM3's in my situation? Also is anyone transferring from the west or midwest coast that would be traveling to Alameda around the 13th-19th of June? We are very excited to get out of our unit and into the "real" coast guard.

I went the other way, Cutters the 1st 2 duty stations to a SAR station after. You'll be OK, boat handling and navagations' the same, just bigger. A good crew will welcome you in and bring you up to speed quickly. Cutter crews are a little closer crew. (longer time together in tighter living conditions)
