I am trying to find information on what unit(s) from Louisiana were stationed at Olathe Naval Air Station in Kansas from 1960-1962. I am assuming that because my dad worked with guided missles, this would be the place to post. If not, please let me know the appropriate place. Also, is there a place on this site to look for who was stationed there with my parents? Thanks

Only four listed here on military.com but none from 60-62.

NAS Olathe

Do you have a copy of your dads service record?

A quick check found VP and VR squadrons along with AC 'A' school at NAS Olathe in the early 60's

Most assuredly!!
If it looks like xxx xx xx, that is his service number.

His name of course, USN,service number, blood type, religion if any, etc.

To get a copy of his Service Record go to eVetRecs:Request Copies of Military Personnel Records

Read and follow the instructions carefully.

In useing eVetRecs you will come to a "Comments" section. Enter into that block "Request a copy of the ENTIRE Service Record".
Failing to do that will just get you a copy of his DD 214 and you want the entire record, to see the info you desire.ie, units he was assigned to while there, etc.

You will need a printer to use eVetRecs, which the instructions will explain why and what you need to do once you have printed out the request.

Thanks again...Here is my story...I was adopted and I know that my birth father was stationed there along with my birth mother. He would have been about 23 in 1961 and had been in the service for about 6 years and planned on making it his career. His first name might be Jack and he probably was from Louisiana. His family was in the fishing industry. My birth mother's name was Alice Eshelman and she was in the Navy also. I have to have surgery and need medical history. If anyone can help locate my birth father, please contact me at kmcrab@hotmail.com He did know about her pregnancy. Thanks
