Likely the pay. It's pretty low for a contract slot!

I know $20.05 seems low but that amounts to somewhere around $27-28 an hour in San Antonio , Austin or the Metromess.

I retired in 1995 as a Chief Parachute Rigger (PRC)

I had a job offer from a major government contractor to work on the Reserve E-2C Hawkeyes
based out of NAS Atlanta, doing the exact same job that I did in the REGNAV E-2C squadron I was in (VAW-120). I lived in Va Beach at the time.

The reason I elected not to take the job was because it was a government contract job.

The fear that once I moved myself and my family to Atlanta, that that company would not retain the contract at the next bidding cycle.

That can happen. Its been very cut throat lately (more so than ever).

I cover mostly Middle Eastern countries and the pay has seriously dropped since the early 90's. I'm not speaking of Iraq premiums, but other Gulf and ME nations. Big profit days are done, low cost guys move in and bid to win, not to perform. Tough market.

Tougher for us Tier 1's with all the overheads we carry.

I had to get my Survival guy out of the UK. He was retired Navy and making sails and furniture there (Wife was British).

On this contract yes it is true that the company may not retain the contract (it has happend) but the personel in the field at the indivdual branches stay the same.
