i took my asvab a few weeks ago.i scored a 75.i opted for the 68wm6.since then my only issue to go forward has been that i have a criminal record that my recruiter has helped me get a suitability review for.well the suitability review has been approved and i am going to meps for the physical and swearig in.i have expressed to my recruiter about 2 or 3 times my change of heart from enlisting into the reserves and that i wanted to go into active duty instead.he has made it known to me that changing now would require him to re fill all this paperwork again all the paperwork he was going to send me to meps with ....he made such a big deal of it and i also feel like since he put so much effort into helping me with all the forms and things required for the suitability review that i owed it to him to just go ahead with the reserves and spare him the paperwork..now i dont go to meps until the july 10th.i want to know if i get to meps and sit down with the counselor prior to taking the oath can the counselor put me into active duty instead right then and there on their computers?can they do that? or only the recruiter can do that

It takes the co-ordinated effort of both your recruiter & MEPS to enlist you in AD (or USAR for that matter). Just be sure to let your recruiter know what your intention is otherwise you will be making several visits to MEPS. Good luck; cul8r.

Listen to me. You don't owe your recruiter anything, this is YOUR life, their job is paperwork. Your recruiter obviously didnt didnt tell you about the "active first program" thru the guard. Anyway, if u want to go active duty call an active duty recruiter, he can switch u. The guard doesn't have to release u, but if they don't call Sacramento. If ur young u should go active! Don't join the guard, it's a joke.
