Yes you can go Active Duty and then go back to the Reserves. Lots of us have done that. I went from the AF Active Duty to Air National Guard to AF Reserve. Sometimes you get bad info on these forums - roppd is totally wrong.

CharlesAirForce is correct, However, it is unlikely you would be able to go from the Reserve - to active. The active force has limited opportunities for reserve folks to transfer into the active force.

I sure could have taken another minute to make my reply more thorough. In 28 years around the AF, I have seen many more people go from Active Duty to Reserve Forces than the other way. The people that have gone to Active Duty from reserve status normally have something that the Active Duty force needs - they could be Civil Engineers, etc. Recently, the AF was recalling Reserve folks to Active Duty (not their units, just allowing Reservists go go back and be mixed with the rest of the force) and it was allowing retired Active Duty to "un-retire" but this is not a normal opportunity. These were all pilots, due to the current need for flyers. Still, in Air National Guard squadron, I did see several people (all junior) go from ANG to Active Duty. So it is possible.

As xMORG4Nx was not clear, my response was based on xMORG4Nx going AC to RC at her will. More info is needed from xMORG4Nx on just what she is asking.
