Hey I'm a Pvt in the Army Reserves. I'm an MP. Well I really like my unit and the soldiers in my unit and one day hope to deploy and fight with them. BUT, in the meantime, I've done some research about this thing called Temporary Duty, and cant seem to find out anything in specifics. What I'm trying to do is if at all possible, (i heard you can do this from somewhere), kind of go on a temporary Active Duty, ranging from 6 months to as high as a couple years to perform the Military Police job while still being attached to my current unit, so if they deploy I will go with them, cause like I said before I have grown attached to my squad and platoon and cant imagine fighting with anyone else. SO my question is...Is there any program or something like what I described above to go on, kind of like a long-term AT? While still being attached to my unit? Or is it just a pipe dream? If it is possible, please fill me in on how to accomplish this, and the chances of this happening etc.

Thanks for your time.

This forum is a good resource usually In this case (you posted in May with no reply until now) I would say ask your retention NCO. They should be able to look up the current regulations. I was in a long time ago. It seemed to me each of the units I was in used TDY to send NCO's to Non Commisioned Officer Schools and other forms of training.
