I am a prior service Marine, with RE code 1A. I served from 1998-2002. I have been thinking about enlisting into the Florida National Guard. I do not think I will be able to however. Since being out I have rec 2 dui's one in 2005 the other in 2007. While it took twice but I have learned my lesson. I started the path to honor application but it has now been canceled?? I am confused because no one ever contacted me. I did do the online chat with two Soldiers. One saying that I could be able to join the other saying that I can not. I emailed the Recruiter but never heard anything back from that either. I know what I have done is wrong and cant be excused, but was just wondering if anyone has any advice?

While I can only speak for the Reserve Recruiting, there are waivers for those types of things. You have to be off probation for at least 90 days.

You can ask your recruiter for a waiver, but they are under no obligation to complete one.

There are a several you can try..... so dont stop......Guard and Reserve are a great option if you still want to serve.
