I have to agree with 7755487 whe she said: "I was a military dependent in the late 50s---we had base decals then, & during alerts we showed our ID cards also. Decals were not invented in the 70s."

There is one little factor that many may not realize, if the military member or dependent, is caught speeding on a base, one form of punishment is having their base sticker scrapped off. This forces the military member to park his or her car off base until the required time limit has passed. That has kept speeding down on most bases. During my 20 year career, I have seen 6 of my friends lose their base "Privilege" to drive their car on the base. Which meant for them to get to work, they either parked their car off base near the gate, or got a ride to work from a friend.

I find it hard to believe the AF is entertaining the thought of dropping the base sitckers on POV's
