While it may seem callous to say this, have you considered whether or not there would be a State of Israel today had there not been a Holocaust? Without the slaughter of those Jews, would the world have ever faced up to itself and what has been done to the Jews over the centuries? I personally doubt it.

But to call John Hagee an anti-Semite is the height of ignorance. He's anything but that. In fact, I doubt Israel has a greater friend in the Gentile world that John Hagee.

Go to this website and explore the organization Hagee created out of thin air; Christians United for Israel www.cufi.org It is one of the fastest growing Christian organizations in the country and is drawing widespread support from the Christian community and the political world.

In fact, register for the third annual conference in Washington DC and come join us as we lobby Congress to support the Jewish State and demand our government put an end to the reckless insistance on dividing Israel to placate the Palestinians. Come hear speeches and words of encouragement from the likes of Benjamin Netanyahu, John McCain (yes, he was the only candidate who came to speak to us last year) and a parade of Rabbi's praising the support of Israel by their Christian brothers and praising John Hagee for his committment.

Anti-Semite? Boy, that's a laugh!

He's still a crackpot and a bigot.

I am a member of CUFI.

In addition, he has raised millions of dollars for Jewish orphanages and other causes. In addition, he is the founder of "A Night to Honor Israel," which he began about 25 years ago.

John Hagee LOVES the Jewish people.

But he's OK with them roasting in Hell if they don't accept Jesus. And he hates Catholics.

That's nice if you can. I've got a short list of people I'd write in if I could. We use electronic ballot machines and all you can do is put your finger on the screen to make your selection.

One can have a complete understanding of something and still disagree with it.

I concur

Well, you can disagree with God, but he'll always be right. Wink

Yes but we will never know it, I mean the big invisible man in the sky doesn't say much... Unlike the big, invisible parrot in my eye! He talks way too much.

Perhaps he's confusing Romans with Roman Catholics. Just like Iraq them Jews were insurgents defeated by a surge. Sadly for him Catholics ain't got going before the Jews had been ethnically cleansed by the Romans. So he believes God punished Jews for about 1900 years just because they were alive? What sort of God's that then?

Ummmmm, . . . it is not up to John Hagee whether ANY individual roasts in Hell. . . that is entirely a personal matter.

And about the Catholics, whatever his beef is, you can HATE what someone DOES, and still LOVE the person. It is done all the time in Christendom.

OR he can HATE what the Catholic hierarchy has done, and that does not reflect on the ordinary Catholic people.

Get it?

Have you been to either of the gatherings in Washington, or are you planning to go this year?

I went to the first two, but am unsure about going this year.

I don't have any doubts about the Biblical mandate to support Israel and I still do, but I came away from the first Washington meeting mad as a dead rat. It felt like I'd been conned into paying to attend a Republican campaign rally. All the true Neo-Con bigwigs were there and when they welcomed Tom Delay like the Messiah had walked into the room, I nearly hurled. I was hot and told Hagee so.

In any case, I was assured that CUFI is not a front organization for the Neo-Con wing of the party and that all Christian denominations and Democrats had been invited, but they declined to attend.

"Ok, I'll take that at face value," I said to myself, so I went last year again and it was much better. No Delay, no Brownback, no Santorum on the stage and a smattering of boo's when George Bushs' name was mentioned. Only Newt Gingrich appeared on stage.

But, I found out later that they were all there again, just hidden away from we lower class supporters at a big donor dinner, where the wealthy contributors to the cause got to hobnob with the K Street boys.

In any case, I'm mad about it again and may not go back unless I see Hagee distancing himself from the Neo-Con's. His endorsement of McCain doesn't help.

No, I haven't been to any dinners anywhere, I just joined a few months back. There is a new chapter here in WA, and I plan to check it out. Although I did watch online or on C-Span, . . I thought Gingrich and Netanyahou were wonderful.

That said, just because a few neocons show up doesn't negate the reason the conference was organized. Most neocons and republicans DO strongly support Israel. . . certainly you aren't saying they shouldn't attend?

Also, sometimes "big wigs" don't attend the main event because they don't want to distract from the real reason for the event.

Attendees also break up into groups and swarm Capitol Hill one day and visit their respective congresspeople to lobby for the nation of Israel.

Tom DeLay, . . . well, your being upset with him being there reiterates my point, . . but he DOES support Israel, so why shouldn't he be there? He may do much behind the scenes in their support that we don't know, . . . which would explain why he was given the honor of speaking.

If you decide to go again, lay aside your biases and/or political grudges for a few hours and remember that the reason for being there is ISRAEL, and ISRAEL alone. Don't let the folks you don't like or don't approve of ruin your good time and your dedication to support Israel.
Smile

I would go in a heartbeat if I had the means, so don't pass up the chance to go if you can.

ALL
There is a lot of heat on this thread. So be it.
My opinion
1. Hagee has views that are not mainstream Protestant
2. Hagee consistently preaches and teaches from bibical source materials.
3. Hagee is unapologetic re his views on most anything
4. McCan can pick and choose his supporters, just as can Obama and Hillary.
5. We have the options to disagree, to choose and that is what this election comes down to, the freedom to do just that.
6. Our choices this time are stark. Left and more Big Governemnt,, Right and more options to allow the corporations control over our lives
Mid way, a process in place to begin the process of citizen input, impact and control
7. Regardless of the religiousity of a supporter, we as citizens need to keep our heads, make impacts where we can and WATCH OUR SIX>
end
