And all 77 went to McClain and Sarah Palin. It is the only state in the United States that every county went RED

Oklahoma has one of the lowest rates of college-education in the nation, and has the highest number of born-again evangelical Christians of any state in the Union, even more so than the Deep Southern states.
That is why Oklahoma votes Republican. Ironically, it is also one of the poorest states. The fact that wealthy, high-income, college-educated states like Connecticut, Rhode Island, Washington State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts voted overwhelmingly for Obama, winning by double-digits--and poor states like OK, Alabama and Mississippi voting for McCain by double digits, is proof positive that the United States of America no longer votes along class lines. The differences between the 2 political parties are now social and cultural, rather than economic. |

Oklahoma is actually one of the places we have considered relocating to....mostly because of my job. Are you saying that if/when I, my partner, and our daughter relocate you will welcome us with open arms? Bring over a caserole? Help us to reinforce the storm cellar? I have no doubt that Oklahomans are fine individuals. Everytime I have been there for work, I'm always impressed how friendly folks are. Will you be as friendly when the lesbians move in next door? |

No. Oklahomans are notoriously racist and homophobic. All this "Okies are real nice, friendly down-to-earth people" is a huge load of crap. |

Thats a huge generalization. I have a good friend in Tulsa that would have me as her neighbor in a heartbeat. I've met many Oklahomans through work. They have all said the same thing "Come on down." Yeah, they are all from OKC, which is a more progressive city. I'm a midwestern girl. I get that the "city folk" don't always speak for the rest of the state. I also get that there are folks that, no matter how well intentioned and nice, just don't think that my so-called "lifestyle" is correct. I can deal with that. I'm a one-on-one kind of gal. I figure if I can win over the hearts and minds of my neighbors one at a time then I've made a lot more headway then if I'm protesting on t.v.. I believe it was KL25 or USA that said something about honey and vinegar. A little honey anyone? |

North Carolina is a Blue state and I voted Red. North Carolina is also the best state in the south east. Thats why I live here. Our folks don't care who is in the White House as long as we get our hand outs.

Come on down to Texas - you would likely find Austin and San Antonio to your liking. Friendly people, nice climate (i.e. we don't get snowed in like OK), decent job base, ect.......... |

Funny you should say that Phoenix. I've also got an offer from our San Antonio office. Maybe we will be nearly neighbors next year. |

From the emptyness of the narrow minded, 82's mouth yakkeths... Come to Oklahoma. The cost of living is low, housing market is good, gas is 1.89 a gallon, clean air/water, good schools, diverse population, 5 divers biomes, several military bases, theaters, symphony, new pro-basketball team; minor league baseball, hockey teams, winerys, Arts Festival every spring; lots of parks and nature reserves, wide open spaces and affordable living. |

Yea MOM
That about totally sums it up. I live in the country almost 100 miles in any direction to a big city , on the shore of a nice fishing Hole with Bass, Crappie, Catfish, And 670 miles of shorline. Lake Eufaula, OK. is a retirees dream place. |

Well, well, well. No such thing as stereotyping going on here. And this from a guy who lives in D.C. The place where if you were going to give the US an enema, the tube would definately be inserted into. You know, I was out working cattle one day, and there was this van that pulled up directly in front of the house and this butt load of kids and two adults get out. They bring out this video camera and they literally spent three or four hours sitting in front of the place, video taping and watching me and the boys working cattle. When we could, we rode down to where they were sitting on our horses and we talked to these folks. Seems that they were from the east and they didn't think that people worked cattle any longer on horseback. The mother thought it was so neat that they could sit and watch this. They was real nice until I told them that we were turning bulls into steers. Then they got really mean and nasty. Told us that they were gonna report us to the ASCP for abusing them cattle. Just goes to show ya, in the case of that bunch of yankees and Xavier, big city folks are such an enlightened bunch... labotamy anyone? |
