President-elect Obama continues to remind me of a young and dangerous lieutenant who has much to learn. I suspect we are in for quite a ride:
Just hours after President Bush and President-elect Obama met in the Oval Office of the White House, details of their confidential conversation began leaking out to the press, igniting anger from the president, sources claim. "Senator Obama would be wise to keep close counsel," a top Bush source warned. "BUSH AND OBAMA AT ODDS OVER AID FOR AUTO INDUSTRY," splashed the NEW YORK TIMES in an exclusive Monday evening, quoting "people familiar with the discussion." The two met at the White House in private, without staff. The NYT claimed that "Bush indicated at the meeting that he might support some aid and a broader economic stimulus package if Obama and congressional Democrats dropped their opposition to a free-trade agreement with Colombia." Bush aides insisted the two leaders were not engaged in a quid pro quo between the automakers and a free trade pact. The ASSOCIATED PRESS quickly followed with details of the conversation, citing "aides who described the discussion on grounds of anonymity, citing the private nature of the meeting." Bush advisers view the leaks as an effort to undermine the president's remaining days in office. "Senator Obama may not be familiar with a long-standing tradition of presidents holding their private conversations, private," a senior adviser explained... |

Obama doesn't care about traditions, rules, or constitutional laws. After all, he has told everyone they need changed to fit HIS views, and the sheep voted him in anyway.
A ride? Yep. The downward spiral to hell. Buckle up. |

Pointing out hypocrisy is not defending anyone. I happen to think many of the fears are well founded. But I find it amusing to see people condemn one politician for the exact same behavior they praise another for. |

Look, the Dems whined for 8 years we did the same when Clinton was in and now it's our turn again to whine---yeah, that's politics. I just think that Obe is an unfroven stranger on the block. Let's us see if he can hack the first 6 months. You'll know by then if he a dumb buffoon or a smart one

Maybe Marine Lt are young and dangerous, but I never met a CG ENS or LTjg who would violate the President's trust. Pres-Elect Obama is more like a Havard law professor who has never been to sea and due to political connections is selected for command of an aircraft carrier on a deployment to the Middle East bringing with him nuke warheads. And, he selects a XO and OPS who also has never been to sea. It may be up to the LT's to ensure safe passage.

I have never praised Bush Jr. I simply did not denounce him as satan incarnate as the demo-libs have. And nobody elected a man named Barry. |

Obama won, get over it. The people want change, and change is what we are going to get. Thank GOD! By the way, his name is President Elect Barack Hussain Obama.

Some of the people voted for him. The rest of us didn't want his type of 'change'. And we know his name, baa-baa. |

You might want to ask yourself why the auto industry is failing here and thriving elswhere. You might take the time to find out why GM is building plants, and producing cars in Russia. Unions, cafe standards, smog legislation and every two bit politician between city council and the US Senate trying to cut off a slice of the auto makers' pie. Bail out? BS. They need to be allowed to make the cars people want. |

They were making cars people wanted. The problem was that people's wants changed very suddenly and so the auto makers were stuck with a lot of unsold, recently very popular, very expensive SUV's. No, that is not the whole story, but it is a signifigant chunk of it. |

Do you know why people "wanted" SUVs as opposed to station wagons, mini-vans? Most "SUVs" wouldn't last a lick off road since the 90s. SUVs weren't subject to the same smog/cafe standards as family cars are. People bought huge SUVs because the car companies stopped making station wagons, and cars large enough to carry a family, and started pushing SUVs. |

Knew him in HS, didja ya? Got that 'fist-bump' going on? We all called Stalin 'Joey' too. I'm not testy. Won't fit nice and snug into one of your pre-made lib catagories, Sammy. I'm demoralized. I'm sure you know the term. Wanna fix that? Get rid of the socialist you so admire. Otherwise, take a long ruck off a short cliff. |

I am not so sure about the cause and effect there. People started buying tiny pickup trucks in droves even when station wagons were available. Most of the station wagon owners I know migrated to the mini van rather than the SUV. On the other hand this is not a trend taht I followed very closely, so you could very well be right. |

I feel your pain... you have taken the first step in fixing your problem (admitting you have one). Keep your head up things will get better. |
