Our children and grandchildren live in the greatest country in the world, not only now but in all history.

why are the schools producing functional illiterates, children that can not even balance a simple checkbook? Math and science grades are not keeping up with what should be.

I dont beleive that it is lack of money, we spend a ton of money for schools, and for education processes, however India and China have far more scholars percentage wise than we do.

Teachers? sometimes wonder if the teachers rely on ridlin more than discipline. Kid acts up what do you do, put a stop to it, or give em a pill.

New programs, dont think so, plenty of programs out there now, more money, how much money does it take it is dollars per kid. Performance of teachers?? do they need to have their work evaluated, do they need to have performance goals?

When i graduated from grade school in 1957 we had to read the preamble to the constitution, and in high school had to pass a US History course. what about now. I asked my grandson who John Adams was. he did not know!! I asked him who was thomas Paine (he is related to him) again he did not know, but he has a HS Diploma
I asked him what was 7.5 percent of 800.00 dollars was, he could not figure it out.. My eldest grandson is a delightful young man, but his education is lacking in many ways and the state of nc did not do him well
